The mission of For Goat Sake encompasses three things every being (human or non human) needs to hear, to feel, and to know: You are safe; You are loved; You matter. We had an inspiring visit to this newer 501(c)(3) rescue and sanctuary where the story is not just about the humans or just about the animals: the story is about how they love and heal each other.
The Ritzy Rescue Rancher specializes in rescuing farm animals and then making them feel as safe and as spoiled as possible. This relatively new, private farm rescue has a total of eighteen animals including horses, goats, cows, cats, and dogs who are all living the good life. We got to hang out with The Ritzy Rescue Rancher founders Kate and Chris to learn about what they are doing and what is next for their rescue.
Set in Imlay, NV, Safe Haven Wildlife Sanctuary is home to lions, tigers, bears, and more. Most of the residents at Safe Haven were used in the entertainment industry and/or the exotic pet trade. Although they cannot be released back into the wild, they can live amazing lives at Safe Haven. These animals have so much to teach us about their past lives so that we can work to end the types of abuses they endured.
If the horses at Wild Heart Sanctuary could talk, they would tell you some stories: stories of freedom, confusion, suffering, and perseverance. They are stories that are heartbreaking yet inspiring, devastating yet joyous. And although they cannot speak, these majestic beings still find ways to teach us, and ways to show us what they have been through. Without words, their actions and their stories move us: a clear-eyed look, a gentle approach, a moment of stillness to allow human touch.
